Ecumenical
Concert in Remembrance
Over $3300 Raised for the Red Cross
On Sunday September 23 the Connecticut Master Chorale hosted an Ecumenical Memorial Concert for the victims of the September 11th tragedy. The event was held at St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown, who graciously co-sponsored this event.
Close to 100 singers from all around the area participated - some from as far away as New York City and New Jersey - plus a very large audience attended this very emotional musical tribute to the victims. The music presented was Faure's Requiem, plus Prayer for Peace by Benjamin Harlan, The Lord is My Shepherd by Thomas Mathews, and The Lord's Prayer.
A free-will offering was accepted with a total of $3,348 collected. It is with pride that we delivered this amount to the American Red Cross - Disaster Relief Fund.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all the area singers, audience, and all those involved for their outpouring of time, talent and donations. I would also like to thank Father Weiss and St. Rose of Lima for co-sponsoring this event. It was heartening to see our community come together with the generosity of all - both singing and witnessing - as it is through all of your gifts that we can continue on in faith, peace and hope.
